This 9 minute video shows the treatment of a patient with a fractured, root canal treated tooth by the preparation and fabrication of a Flexi Post and core/crown buildup (used to re-enforce the tooth and provide a 3 dimensional template for the crown) which was followed immediately by preparation, imaging, design, milling, polishing and cementing a CEREC all-porcelain crown in under two hours. The post and core procedure steps included removal of fractured tooth, remaining caries (decay) and old amalgam and temporary filling, which was placed after the root canal treatment, and preparation of the post-hole and fitting the FlexiPost #1 The post was evaluated with Schick CDR digital x-ray confirmation (in 7 seconds after exposure) and we then see the cementing of the FlexiPost with dentin bonding using Amalgambond, FlexiFlow Cementing of the post and a TiCore Buildup in an AutoMatrix. The crown buildup was adjusted for ideal occlusion (bite and excursions) and the CEREC optical impression was made to correlate with the crown preparation that followed. The CEREC BluCam then captured the preparation and the crown was designed on the Acquisition Unit with the patient watching over Dr Rosenberg’s shoulder. A dental assistant measured the color of the adjacent teeth with the Vita EasyShade spectrophotometer and a corresponding block of Vita porcelain was selected to match the shade of the adjacent teeth. X-ray technicians have a very technical job in which it requires a lot of patience. Now, an X-ray technician could end up working in so many different fields of business and facilities.
